state of kin studio
Beginning with the industrial bones of our cherished factory warehouse on Ruth St, the State of Kin studio has come of age following its latest transformation.
The worn timber floorboards have rightly retained their passage of time, and are now complemented with a mostly monochromatic scheme that reveals subtle hints of colour interjected throughout.
The open-plan decompression space upon entry is definitely where the fun begins with our brand message being front and centre. Featured on the entry wall to our main work area, it's the core of the space, the link between meeting rooms and the focal point from every location.
The reception counter is a key expression of our creative family - the custom design amalgamates the luxury and timelessness of marble (Empress Serpentine Dark Marble from Granite Warehouse) and the raw strength of steel. These two materials are intertwined with marble formed into a seamless cube that protrudes through the angles of the wrapped, raw steel 'origami' piece. The laser-cut steel was carefully joined and deliberately left raw to expose the weld-burns, the batch-stamps, the scratches and to allow the finger marks to patina and show the life of the piece as it ages in place.
Custom steel frame and fluted glass doors to the meeting room allow for privacy but also the transition of light and movement. (All steelwork by Nic & Tony Rosetti from Urban Welding).
