Little Stables

After nine years, The Stables Bar in Perth’s CBD was ready to take the next step in its evolution. Three Pound Group approached State of Kin to design a new addition to the popular establishment — a smaller, street-front offering aptly named Little Stables.

Our approach creates a space with its own unique identity by aligning the building’s heritage character with its ever-changing streetscape, combining references to the past with a sense of contemporary refinement. The façade’s awning windows, inspired by original photos of the building, increase light and airflow, while clean lines, rich colours, terrazzo flooring and sculptural forms contribute to the contemporary aspect.
Delicate pendants contrast against a robust bar with quartzite stone finishes.
The interiors respect the building’s historic character while creating a distinctive identity for the space.
Terrazzo flooring, sculptural forms and a rich colour palette set the mood at Little Stables.
After nine busy years of operation, The Stables Bar in the CBD needed a new injection of life. We chose State of Kin to design and construct our new addition to the venue, Little Stables, and we could not be happier with the completed high-end product they delivered. It was not an easy project to merge an old optometrist shop and basement space into a busy tavern site, and the team at State of Kin has given us a space that now complements the existing business perfectly. We look forward to working on future projects with them very soon. Tim McLernon, General Manager, Three Pound Group
